Fourth grade teacher by day, culture writer and blogger after hours, Samara holds a Postbaccalaureate in English and a Masters in Education. After years of friends and colleagues asking her, “Have you ever thought about being a writer? You’re good!” she started writing the art, books, music, and tv reviews she wished there were more of: culture bites delivered in a with her blend of sass and direct honesty.
After fourteen years of teaching elementary school, Samara is ready to use all those “teacher days off” (there are so, so many!) to pursue her writing.

Born in Mexico to a Mexican mom and Haitian dad, Samara is a Barnard College graduate who’s studied at The Sorbonne in Paris. She is fluent in French and Spanish, and is a long time Brooklyn native. She loves the fine arts, pop culture, philosophizing about life, long walks, coffee, and wine.
